Community Living
The purpose of Community Living Services is to provide a stable and comfortable home environment for adults with developmental disabilities, along with services that promote inclusion, personal independence, and physical well-being in their homes and communities. This program offers twenty-four hour supervised Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILA) and Intermittent Community Integrated Living Arrangements (ICILA). In Oak-Leyden’s Community Living Services programs, adults with developmental disabilities are provided with residential care and training in basic living skills and social/recreational activities as well as assistance accessing healthcare providers. Through the ICILA, residents that need less than twenty-four hour supervision in their own home receive support in community independence, daily living activities, and domestic skills. Community Integrated Living Arrangements Oak-Leyden operates 12 CILA’s. Residents enjoy the pleasures of sharing a home of their own while learning to handle the responsibilities that go along with independent living, with help from trained staff who are present any time participants are at home. These individuals also receive assistance pursuing community activities that meet their interests. While many adults with developmental disabilities live with family members, they greatly benefit from the assistance offered by Oak-Leyden. Staff members meet with individuals periodically to help them with skills such as handling household chores, money management, and participation in community activities.
